It is my honor and privilege to welcome you to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent's webpage.

The vision, mission and goals of the Bristol Warren Regional School District have a concerted focus on student learning. Through this focus, the teaching and learning in Bristol Warren Regional School District is of the quality that few districts can match.  It is the charge of the Office of the Assistant Superintendent to provide the support to the organizational system to ensure that the district's strategic plan can be fully implemented and achieved.

"When it comes to ensuring student success, there is nothing more important than a competent and committed teacher" (Schlechty, 2002).  Therefore, the Bristol Warren Regional School District is committed to the investment of continuous high quality professional development to support learning and teaching. High quality professional development addresses the following three questions:

1. What is the academic proficiency that all students are expected to know and be able to do?
2. What must teachers know and do to ensure student success?
3. Where must professional development focus to meet the aforementioned questions? 

It is during sustained and timely high quality professional development opportunities that educational leaders collaborate and build collegial relationships for the purpose of increasing student achievement.  Research shows us that "human conversation is the most ancient and easiest way to cultivate conditions for change - personal, community, and organizational change.  If we can sit together and talk about what it is important to us and our students, we begin to come alive (Wheatley, 2002)."

It is my moral obligation to foster a professional learning community in the Bristol Warren Regional School District that encourages and promotes collegiality, dialogue, reflection, and collaboration around teaching and learning. It is also my obligation to provide a safe environment that engages and supports students in achieving proficiency through meaningful, rigorous and diverse learning activities.  

As you will see from this webpage, the Bristol Warren Regional School District has made available student, family and teacher resources. Please take time to explore the wide variety of opportunities for your child as well as ample support systems.
